Congratulations to Mrs. Knudtson’s Accounting class for being selected to receive a $1,000 award for their participation in the Project Financial Literacy program, sponsored by the Iowa Bankers Association. All Iowa schools participating in the program this year were eligible for one of 10 awards, and Postville was selected for the Most Improved School Award from the previous years participation in the program.
The Project Financial Literacy program consisted of Mrs. Knudtson focusing her lessons on Iowa Core financial literacy skills the students need to be successful. The Accounting students then took an online assessment over financial skills such as; Achieving Financial Goals, Managing Money Effectively, Legal/Ethical Behavior, etc. The students scores were then compared to the overall average of all Iowa schools participating. Students in the Accounting class are Maya Burke, Tanner Jacobsen, Levi Hansmeier, Gale Staake, Tiffany Franzen, Elizabeth Galvan, and Jorge Cardona.
The $1,000 award will be used for further investment in the school’s financial literacy programs and for providing scholarships to students.
