Maria Leitz

K-6 At-risk/ Student Success Advocate / Student Council and Leadership Sponsor

My name is Maria Leitz and I am thrilled to be here. I am the Student Success Advocate/At-risk teacher and will work with students at Cora B. Darling Elementary School. My job is to address the physical, emotional, social and cognitive development needs of the students. As the Student Success Advocate, I will focus on relevant strategies to help designated students better prosper in school: monitor attendance; guide and teach social and emotional learning; sponsor leadership programs; assist in mentoring programs, support behavior interventions and assist students with their academic improvements. I was born in El Salvador and grew up in Cresco, Iowa. After graduating in 1999 from the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelor degree in Education, I have made teaching my career. I have had the opportunity to teach PK-12 students in diverse schools both in the US and abroad. I am excited to be here and to be able to work with so many great families. Please feel free to stop in anytime to visit, or contact me if you have any questions or comments
